I'm Left Speechless... epilogue

My precious Karli
Tonight, I read my previous post to Karli... until just before the Scripture... I said, "Poor Merv, right? Can't you see me sitting there trapped in my body?"

"Yes, I can Daddy..."

Then I read the scripture... "Poor Merv? No Way!  Not according to what we just read!" I then said, "Let's count all the blessings WE together have seen come to be BECAUSE of Parkinson's."

And we did...

We thanked God together for Parkinson's, for alas, without PD, I would not likely have as consistently and as purposely put my little girls to bed every night (distracted by business, friends, etc.)...

Ah, the rewarding joy I receive when listening to the bible (the Word of Promise Audio Bible) every night... the tender "daddy" time... I sit in my chair at the end of her bed... and I rub her (and her sister's) feet... as we feast together in both the revelations and the mysteries of God's word.

Karli and I both have trouble falling asleep at night... which provides plenty of no-rush time with dad... lot's of time to get out what WE BOTH want/need to say... and, she soaks it up like a sponge!

I tell her that her inward beauty shines as she reaches for God's purpose; God's holiness... giving examples that I've been able to see in her throughout the day... and that her zest for life and smile makes her the prettiest 11 year old in the whole world... and, just like her dad, she has the joyful gift of focusing on the sunny warmth that lies just beyond the gray clouds above... seeing the sun beyond the clouds is a gift from God that she needs to share every day with those who see and feel only rain... She BEAMS...

"Now Karli, just like you and I are talking... talk to God... tell him your worries and fears... and tell him what you enjoyed... just talk to Him... He's smiling with us right now, and I'm getting tired, but He's still awake..." She smiles a contented smile, and closes her eyes...

"Good night Pumpkin, I love you..." "Good night, daddy, I love you too..."

I AM A RICH, BLESSED MAN INDEED!

Duet. 6:5-7 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

  2. Praise God Merv! You are an amazing gift for God... especially to those you should be. I praise God for your example as a father, as a husband, and as a man of God. How I love your heart and joy in our Lord Jesus Christ. With tears in my eyes I praise God for his sustaining strength being displayed through and in your weakness. Press on in the fight! Our Jesus is strong to sustain.
